1.bright說到聰明的我們一般都是口頭上的表達描述， bright就是一個口語常用語，這個聰明的一般是指年輕人，但是更側重的是指小孩思路敏捷，理解能力強，機靈等。
例如：
I was convinced that he was brighter than average.
The class are, in general, very bright.
2.clever 說到聰明的，機靈，那么就要說一下clever，clever也是描述聰明的，但是更加強調頭腦的靈活，強調能較快地理解并正確掌握和應用所學的知識或技能，有智有謀，但是卻不一定能夠全面拖堂的考慮問題，所以也可以指耍一些小聰明，而在這時是含有一定的貶義的。
例如：
She would cleverly pick up on what I said.
If you have a gap in your resume, work on clever ways to describe it.
3.smart這也是一個普通用詞，與bright和clever的意思很相近，但更強調機靈，也就是表示思維能力很強,辦事巧妙,能圓滑地處理人際關系等，但是有時也會帶有表面的會膚淺的色彩，聰明的也是有很多面的，smart有時就會表達出含有貶義的一面，也就是狡猾，詭秘的一面。

4.wise 前面說的聰明只是算比較普通的聰明，而wise側重不是一般的聰明伶俐，而是有遠見，有智慧，能明智地處理問題。可指某人的頭腦靈活或做某事的正確性,意味著具有廣博知識和豐富的經驗。
例如：
A wise general can gain the upper hand in any battle.
But it’s not wise to put everything you have into one corporation, nor do I like commercializing my entire life.

5.brilliantbrilliant 也是指聰明的額，指的是人的才華比較出重，思路敏捷，所以很多時候都是會讓人贊嘆不已的。
例如：
It was a brilliant strategy, because it lacked all strategy.
In fact, when I was a young boy, I worshipped my father, whom I believed to be not only the most brilliant but also the tallest man in the world.
6.intelligent 這是一個比較正式的用詞，指在理解新的、抽象東西或處理解決問題時，智力超過一般常人。也就是指某人在需要用腦理解或解決問題時,具有較強的、有效的使用頭腦的能力,側重于智力的外在表現。
例如：
Susan's a very bright and intelligent woman who knows her own mind.
I like Per very much, because he is a very intelligent boy and reads the game very well.
7.ingenious 指人思路敏捷，但是這不光是這個，還暗示有創造與發明的才能和技巧。
例如：
Nevertheless, after a long period of evolution, ingenious humanity changed to be sturdy and immune to some diseases.
On the heels of their ingenious ideas were generally hardship loneliness and great pressure. They had to resort to all their energy and courage so as to be able to crack the tons of hard nuts.
8.shrewd 這個聰明的含有‘機靈’、‘敏銳’、‘精明’的含義在里面，表示諳于世故,對事物淺嘗輒止,遇事老謀深算,善于判斷，把握有利機會。
例如：
He's an artist, a scientist and a shrewd businessman (all) rolled into one.
It would have been different if the master praised themfor being shrewd or effective or profitable.
